Bekina Martina Letsoalo, from Mankweng in Limpopo Province, is driving social change through her participation in the Miss Interactional SA pageant, where she earned the title of First Runner-Up. Her journey reflects her commitment to empowering women and advocating for gender equality, aiming to inspire her community and beyond.

Letsoalo’s impressive academic background includes completing matric at Mountain View High School in 2020 and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies from the University of Limpopo in 2023. She is currently pursuing an Honours degree in International Politics at the same institution.

Her pageant journey was motivated by her desire to challenge stereotypes and advocate for women’s empowerment through education. She believes education is key to unlocking women’s potential and independence. Throughout the competition, Bekina engaged in community outreach and supported initiatives that promote women’s education and economic empowerment.

Bekina’s involvement in Miss Interactional SA was inspired by her passion for creating positive change. She champions self-assurance, self-love, and living unapologetically. Her warm and compassionate nature encourages others to embrace their individuality and reject societal pressures.

Though she faced moments of self-doubt, especially during the quarterfinals, Bekina remained determined. By focusing on her strengths, she navigated the challenges with resilience, emerging stronger and more confident.

As First Runner-Up, Bekina highlights the importance of celebrating South Africa’s cultural diversity. She advocates for cross-cultural understanding and supports local artists, craftspeople, and cultural practitioners, promoting inclusive spaces for dialogue and collaboration. Her advocacy extends to addressing social and environmental issues, supporting local initiatives, and encouraging youth to pursue their passions.

Bekina also recognizes the dual nature of social media. While it can amplify marginalized voices, it can also lead to unhealthy comparisons. She promotes responsible social media use, encouraging content that inspires and educates, while emphasizing the importance of taking breaks to maintain mental well-being.
