Ebenezer Masogo, born on February 19, 1999, in Mpumalanga’s Bushbuckridge, has always chased big dreams. From the classrooms of Tiyani Primary to the soccer fields where his parents played, Ebenezer’s journey is defined by his dual passion for academics and football.

After completing his National Senior Certificate at Luke Secondary in 2016, Ebenezer faced a gap year before entering the University of Limpopo in 2019. Now, with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Mineral Science under his belt, he’s pursuing an Honours degree, set to complete in 2024. “Football and academics keep me grounded,” he shares. “I know the road is tough, but the key is consistency and hard work.”

Inspired by his parents’ love for soccer, Ebenezer dreams of joining a top professional team, despite the hurdles of coming from a rural community. “Opportunities in professional football are rare for us,” he reflects, “so I keep myself focused, hydrated, and ready. It’s about prioritizing progress.”

A natural leader, Ebenezer values open communication with his teammates, preparing for each match as if it were the final. “In football, every day is a preparation for victory, even when our opponents are equally hungry to win,” he says. But his goals stretch beyond personal success; he envisions building resources and support for aspiring footballers in his community.

Though he’s faced setbacks, like an injury that kept him from representing Mpumalanga and losing a bursary, Ebenezer remains undeterred. “Failure isn’t the end,” he states. Moreover, He believes in mutual support between men and women, emphasizing that no one should dominate the other “We’re here to uplift each other. Men and women, we should work side by side with respect. That’s how we succeed,” he concluded.
