When Majwala Myrah Molokomme first lit up the S-Block stage as a Performing Arts student at the University of Limpopo (UL), it was easy to picture her on the small screen, and ta-da! she made it to SABC 1’s youth telenovela Skeem Saam as the beloved Ruth, a learner at Turf High.
Her time as an assistant at the Performing Arts Centre at UL sharpened her leadership and organisational skills, paving the way for her current role as a Script Coordinator at Skeem Saam. It’s the perfect blend of a Performing Arts degree and real-world acting chops from UL!
But who is this Myrah, who is seemingly shy and humble?
From the vibrant streets of Seshego, Limpopo, to the buzzing sets of Skeem Saam, Myrah’s journey has been nothing short of incredible. Her path has been full of twists and turns, but each step has brought her closer to living her dreams. Myrah’s story is one of creativity, resilience, and pure passion—proof that when you’re determined, anything is possible.
Myrah’s academic adventure started with Journalism in 2015, followed by a quick detour into Electrical Engineering in 2016. But it wasn’t until she enrolled in the Performing Arts programme at UL in 2017 that she found her true calling. Driven by a love for storytelling, Myrah discovered that this was what she was meant to do.
“I’m an all-around storyteller,” she says. “Storytelling has always fascinated me. I knew it would be my way to educate, entertain, connect, drive change, give a voice to the voiceless, create awareness, inspire, and even heal.”
Looking back at her time at UL, Myrah fondly remembers the moments that shaped her both as a person and as an artist. Whether performing on stage, diving into heated debates, or simply soaking in the art of storytelling, these experiences were the building blocks of her future. “The stage was my safe space, my playground, and sometimes my escape. It’s where I could pour out all my emotions and leave them behind,” she recalls.
For Myrah, UL was more than just school—it was a transformative experience. She credits her success to the lessons of hard work, discipline, and commitment she learned there. Her big break came in her second year, when she auditioned for the role of Ruth on Skeem Saam. Balancing school and a budding acting career was tough, but Myrah’s dedication paid off. “That’s where my acting career began. Juggling school and work was hard, but with commitment and discipline, I made it happen,” she says with pride.

Moving to Johannesburg was a whole new challenge. Figuring out life in the big city without family support wasn’t easy, but Myrah’s talent, education, and sheer determination made the transition smoother. “I didn’t struggle with work because I knew why I was here, and I had the talent, education, and drive to back it up.”
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. After a tough patch with no work and no income, Myrah spotted a job posting for a Script Coordinator. She went for it, nailed the interview, and landed the job. “That was a turning point. Since then, I’ve never looked back. I’ve only just begun—I’m still on the rise,” she says with excitement. Looking back, she sees this challenging time as one that strengthened her character and fueled her ambition.
Now, as an actress and script coordinator on Skeem Saam, Myrah’s days are a mix of creativity and discipline. She starts each morning with meditation, journaling, and prayer—rituals that keep her grounded. Her day is filled with reading, writing, editing, and diving into the creative processes she loves. Whether she’s helping out different departments or brainstorming with writers, she finds joy in every part of her work.

From being performer to the boss behind the script
The best part of her career? Constant learning and growth. “I surprise myself all the time,” she laughs. “You never stop learning or getting better at what you do.” It’s this humility and dedication that keep her striving for more.
To fellow students and aspiring artists, Myrah has some advice: “Bet on yourself. If you know you’ve got what it takes, go for it. Prepare yourself so that when opportunities come, you’re ready. There’s plenty of room for everyone,” she says with a smile.
As Myrah continues to explore new opportunities, she remains grounded and driven by her love for storytelling. Her journey from Seshego to the spotlight is proof that with passion, hard work, and a belief in yourself, no dream is too big to achieve.
