Fhatuwani “Tony” Thenga, affectionately known as Tony, Fhatu (by his family), and Xoxa (by friends), is a creative force from Vhangani Village in Ha-Masia, Venda. A gifted artist, Tony has made waves in dance, music, drawing, painting, and even football.
Tony’s journey began at six, when he first fell in love with dance. With support from his older brother Ferdinand, he quickly became known for his talent, captivating family and classmates alike. As his school dance group’s leader, he refined his skills, eventually going viral on TikTok (@Maan.Towney), where his unique finger-style amapiano dance challenges earned him over 120,000 followers. “Last year, I started reaching millions of views with my finger-dancing amapiano challenges,” Tony shares. “Within two weeks, I gained over 120K followers.”

When it comes to staying prepared, Tony is diligent: “I focus on amapiano dance and keep up with trends by checking TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram regularly. Even though I’m flexible, I practice and master routines before performing. Mistakes can lead to injuries, so preparation is key. I go to the gym and meditate to stay ready.”

But dance is only one of Tony’s many talents. “I also make and remix music, I love drawing and painting, and I’m one of the best soccer players,” he says. “I’m talented to the point that I’m good at anything I try with passion—even cooking, which I consider another talent.”
For Tony, dance is a powerful form of expression: “Dance moves convey emotions and stories. For example, the Gwara-Gwara feels like it originates from the moves Leon Schuster did in Mr. Bones.”
Inspired by entertainers who have turned their passions into careers, Tony’s dreams include becoming a top entertainer, DJ, and restaurateur. “I want to uplift people’s spirits through unique events, and I dream of owning a restaurant where I can host music sessions and events,” he explains.
Tony Thenga’s creativity, passion, and ambition make him a rising star in the entertainment world, and his future promises only greater success.
