Upon discovering his talent for freestyling, Siyabonga Bilankulu he chose to pursue it wholeheartedly, a decision that has led him to share the stage with notable artists like Stilo Magolide, Papa Penny Penny among others.
Siyabonga Bilankulu, known by his stage name Cya Bilz, is a 26-year-old Media Studies student at the University of Limpopo, born in Polokwane and raised in Giyani. A talented freestyler, he chose early on to pursue his musical gifts, leading him to share the stage with prominent artists like Stilo Magolide, Papa Penny Penny, and Mellow Productions, who collaborates with big names such as Emtee and Blackie.
Siyabonga’s journey hasn’t been easy. Childhood challenges led him to change schools frequently, from Protea Glen Preschool to Saint Francis Catholic Academy for the Blind, Partially Sighted, and Deaf. However, his passion for hip-hop, which he regards as a culture, remained constant. “I grew up listening to legends like Mzekezeke, 2Pac, and Nuzz,” he reflects, naming them as early influences.

Hip-hop is more than music for Siyabonga; it’s a medium that mirrors his emotions and life experiences. His debut track, “Money Medulla,” created with his cousin Yiza Soul, was inspired by “Digital Death” by Future and Drake, which encouraged them to develop their unique sound.
Siyabonga’s Media Studies background gives him valuable industry access, allowing him to network with influential figures such as DJ Brain from Munghana Lonene FM and others from Energy FM, who have helped build his reputation as an artist. “They’ve supported my growth and helped me connect with my audience,” he says.
Determined and driven, Cya Bilz is leveraging every opportunity, aiming to make a lasting mark in the music world.
