Sugar diabetes also known as (diabetes Miletus) happens when an individual has high levels of sugar in their blood (glucose). Diabetes is caused by the inability of an individual’s pancreas to secrete insulin or enough insulin. It affects individuals of all ages. However, it is favorable among people who are 45 years or older and have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 25 and above, young people who also have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 25 and above, people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol or a family history of diabetes.

Diabetes has several types.

The first type (Auto-immune) occurs when cells of the pancreas are destroyed. Brittle diabetes is also a type one diabetes that has a frequent instability of blood sugar which can cause one to always be hospitalized, in rare cases it can lead to one having to undergo a pancreas transplant. This type mostly affects children and the youth.

The second type occurs when the pancreas is unable to produce insulin, it mostly affects the adults. Additionally, the stage in which a person’s blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not enough to be type 2 is prediabetes. Most people who suffer from this phenomenon end up having type 2 diabetes.

The third type of diabetes is known as Type 3c, it is caused by damage to the pancreas due to pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, and more, the removal of a pancreas can also lead to this type of diabetes.

The last common type of diabetes is gestation diabetes which affects pregnant women. However, this type of diabetes goes away after pregnancy.
